Please Don’t Write Me Up! The Coaching Intervention
In some cases, all the coaching in the world won’t change some employees behaviors. Yet, we know that most companies have invested a great deal of time and money helping to develop these same employees. When employees aren’t improving or are showing short term improvement coaches will want to have a more formal coaching session, the Coaching Intervention. The Coaching Intervention is the last step in the coaching process before coaches enter the verbal or written warning process, which is a management based approach. The goal is to keep the employee on our team by having an honest discussion about their behaviors and the expectations. Together, the employee and the coach would develop an action plan that will help to address any areas where the employee is not meeting expectations.
